For our own office, we salvaged the structure and roof of an old carport and infilled underneath it. The new building has the same form of the original carport, but has a new skin made of cork (yes cork bark from Portuguese trees). This amazing material is both a suitable cladding and also acts as thermal and sound insulation. On the inside, we retained the existing wood ceiling structure and exposed it by placing a new ceiling above the rafters. In order to make this work, we created a curved transition from ceiling to wall and finished it with lime plaster. To polish it off, doug fir plywood lines the interior walls. For now, here are some favorite construction photos from most recent to oldest.
